As for a food that helps me run my best marathon.. a turkey club sandwich. Every time i've run a great marathon, I had a turkey club sandwich the night before the race, its weird, but it works ...

i didn't do as much speedwork on my most recent round of marathon training as before, but i did increase the # of miles run. of course, i don't know exactly what was key, but i do think that increasing mileage helps. i know you need to keep a careful balance with your legs/hip though, which makes it tough. so since increasing may not be doable, i also like yasso's and mile repeats for the speedwork throughout training, as well as tempo and goal marathon pace training.

I'll be experimenting right along with you! My best races (PRs) have definitely been the ones where I did *consistent* speed workouts. The distances aren't challenges anymore, my LR are 9-11 miles every weekend now. This is one of the main things that sparked the Marathon registration - need to move up and on!

Share more about this stomach issue! maybe some of us can offer some insight that Might help... ;) I know I've had to X a few things from my routine, it's different for everyone (I can't even Think of having a banana pre-run or race - opposite of most runners)....
